Are you a parent who needs help?

I provide therapy for children, adolescents and families who are going through relationship issues.
I offer parents guidance when their children are experiencing various difficulties.
Child therapy
Therapy with children helps them express themselves through play and creative activities. The therapist gets valuable insight into their emotions and worries and helps them work through their difficulties.
Therapy for adolescents
Adolescents often close in on themselves, making it hard for parents to have an open and honest relationship with them. Working with a therapist can help bridge this gap.
Filial therapy
Parents are helped through the therapist’s observations and given feedback regarding their interactions with children, how to communicate better and develop a more meaningful relationship.
Parent training
Parents are taught how to really listen to their children, how to recognize their children’s needs, how to communicate requests clearly when necessary, how to be firm but caring, how to honour the person of the child even when there is disagreement.

About the therapy

My style of working is Humanistic and Experiential – I value all that you may bring into the therapeutic relationship with the belief that your innate desire and tendency is to work towards health and wellbeing
I do not prescribe medication and may work with other professionals for your benefit should you agree
Together we focus on the here and now of present experience in order to help you increase your awareness of needs, desires, feelings, thoughts, beliefs, stuckness and blocks to sensation
You learn how to acknowledge and release negative feelings, how to observe and choose your thoughts, rather than being controlled by them and how to act more purposefully in your life
I also might offer some exercises or experiments such as writing, drawing, fantasy work, dream work, or guided imagery in order to help the exploration process, practise new learnings and motivate yourself towards more fulfilling actions
I do my best to create a safe environment by listening to what you say and how you say it with respect and acceptance of your process and values
I respect your choices and encourage self-ownership, self-responsibility and self-authority
You can be certain whatever we discuss will remain confidential between us
